First run in 1940, the Wellington Guineas has had some great winners over the years including Mainbrace (1950), Balmerino (1975), Uncle Remus (1977) and more recently Solvit (1991) and Darci Brahma (2005) setting up what should be an excellent race in 2012

Capacity fields have been drawn for this weekend New Zealand Bloodstock Wellington Guineas Raceday.

The first feature on the day is the $50,000 Seaton Park Wellesley Stakes which see the 2YO’s chase black type glory for the first time this season.
Albert Bosma and "Go Racing" will hold an important hand in this race with two representative out of the nine runners. The first is from the Stephen Marsh stable in Cambridge with Ruud Awakening. She was a very impressive winner on debut at Avondale. The second Go Racing runner is Charlestown who is on debut from Lisa Latta’s Awapuni stable. Charlestown has been a winner at the recent Foxton trials.

The second feature on the day the $70,000 Graeme Thomson Antique Jewellery Mile and sees Lisa Latta hold a strong hand with four of the thirteen runners. Justanexcuse, Zennista, Platinum Princess and Capital Diamond all look strong chances in the race, with the northern contingent right amongst the major chances with Sum Up, Royal Queen and Rochallen.

The 3 Year Olds will step out in the feature race of the day, the $85,000 New Zealand Bloodstock Wellington Guineas over 1500m.
The seventeen horse field is headed by Whanganui Guineas winner Move Faster with the fillies charges being headed by recent Soliloquy Stakes winner Misstrum.

All in all this is not a day to be missed and if you wish you can stay after the last and hopefully cheer on Ocean Park to victory in the Cox Plate.

Be a Member for the day 
Members Stand tickets can be purchased for $15 each. Tickets can be brought on the day from the Raceday office or purchased prior to raceday by ringing 0800 TRENTHAM.

Members Jackpot is back!
A great extra incentive to be at Trentham! A $250 bet for the day will be up for grabs for all Members on course for every day of the 2012 / 2013 season with a drawn name announced on the PA between Races 2 and 3. This must be claimed within 10 minutes from the race day office, however, if unclaimed, the bet will increase for the next meeting by $250 to a maximum of a $1000 bet. Any remaining Jackpot must be won on the last day of the season, with a new draw following each race continuing until the prize is claimed, until just prior to the last.

GETTING TO TRENTHAM
By train
Leaving central Wellington every 30 minutes (5 minutes past and 35 minutes past the hour), approx time from City to Trentham is 40 mins. Return trains to Wellington from Trentham also leave at 5 minutes past and 35 minutes past the hour.Click here for Metlink timetables.

By car
Trentham Racecourse is located on Racecourse Road. Public parking is available on Racecourse Road and surrounding areas. Members, Owners, Jockeys & Trainers are invited to park in the Leger Car Park at the Northern end of the course. Click here for Google Maps
